Even though Isle Royale might be one of the least visited national parks in the country. Residents of the Keweenaw Peninsula enjoy making trips to the nearby park. During the summer the National Park Service often offers chances for residents to enjoy a short trip on the Ranger III and a little taste of what the trip out to the park feels like.
The National Park Service will begin accepting registrations this month for the annual Keweenaw Waterway Cruise aboard the Ranger III in July. The two-and-a-half to three-hour tour invites passengers aboard the National Park Service’s vessel to enjoy an along the Keweenaw Waterway to the South entry of Keweenaw Bay.
The cruise’s popularity over the years means that spots on the boat will fill up fast. The National Park Service does request those interested in the Keweenaw Waterway Cruise to call park staff to make a reservation or stop in the Houghton visitor’s center. The Keweenaw Waterway cruise in 2024 will set out on July 11th and 25th at 12;30 pm.
