One year later Isiah Strieter has been sentenced for his mother’s murder. Judge Charles Goodman presided over the courtroom in Houghton County 12th Circuit Court this morning. Strieter has been sentenced to 10 to 15 years in prison for the murder of, Ashley Harvey, in January 2022. He is convicted of homicide and a felony firearms charges. Strieter’s legal representative, David Gemignani, expressed that over the past year Strieter has begun to takes steps to grow and learn from the tragedy; witnessing a meeting between Streiter and his grandmother prior to sentencing today, that he described, as an act of love. Judge Goodman expressed that today is a sad occasion, extending condolences to those affected by the actions of the defendant. He then made recommendation to the Michigan Department of Corrections that Strieter should receive mental health treatment and consoling; and that Strieter be allowed to explore opportunities to earn a GED while serving his sentence. Strieter was credited with 346 days of time served, and will pay 4,477 dollars in restitution to Crime Victim Services.
