NBA
The Detroit Pistons again got off to a cold start, and fell to the Chicago Bulls 117-95 last night. Coach Stan Van Gundy tried to shake up his offense by starting Ish Smith at point guard instead of Reggie Jackson. It didn’t work – Smith finished with nine points and seven assists. Tobias Harris and Marcus Morris led Detroit with 13 points each. The Pistons have lost five of their last six games, and play at Orlando tomorrow night.

The Detroit Red Wings will host the Tampa Bay Lightning tomorrow evening.

High School
Citing declining numbers, the Ironwood Red Devils High School football team will not take the field this fall. The Ironwood Board of Education voted earlier this week to join the Gogebic Miners co-op team that was established several years ago by Wakefield-Marenisco and Bessemer. The Wakefield Board of Education has approved the move, and the Bessemer Board is expected to agree at its meeting next week. The team will continue to be known as the Gogebic Miners. It will compete in the WestPAC. Games will be rotated through the fields at all three schools.
