Snow has started to dust the ground in Houghton. And that means it’s time to turn the city into a winter wonderland. Wintertime in the Copper Country is a favorite season of many and certainly one to celebrate. As with the season comes Santa, time with the family, presents, hot cocoa, and much more. It’s even been said that Santa will make a special trip to the area before Christmas to check out the Houghton waterfront and see what the city has done to turn it into a winter wonderland.
“I believe Santa will arrive with Mrs. Claus by fire truck around 4:15. In the portage lake district library there are going to be some Frozen-themed characters, in the movie. Some movie-related activities, and some with some characters from the movie, they’ll be playing the movie, and they’ll have some crafts available for kids. And I want to remind people that if children are coming to see Santa. Bring their letter. And include a return address on it. Because Santa wants to reply to all of them.” Eric Waara, City Manager, City of Houghton
