Houghton Police and Michigan DNR Warn of Bear in City Limits

Houghton Police and Michigan DNR are aware of reports of a bear in city limits. The Houghton Police Department has received several calls for a black bear in city limits. The Michigan Department of Natural Resources has been made aware of the issue. Officials ask residents to please remove bird feeders for at least one week. Adding that the bear will move on if there are no easily accessible food sources. Those with concerns are asked to call the Michigan Department of Natural Resources for more information.
