Houghton man arrested for possession of methamphetamine

A three-month investigation culminated with the arrest of a Houghton man Thursday in Ontonagon County for Possession with Intent to Deliver Methamphetamine. The felony charge carries a potential of 20 years in prison.

The 39-year-old is believed to have been bringing in large amounts of meth from out of state. He was pulled over returning from Minnesota. The traffic stop was conducted on M-28 near Ewen by the Michigan State Police Hometown Security Team and a K-9 unit based out of the Negaunee Post, along with the Ontonagon County Sheriff’s Department. They found a quarter pound of meth and other drug paraphernalia.

The man is incarcerated at the Ontonagon County Jail, awaiting arraignment. More charges are expected.
