Houghton High School graduates get parade, Hancock celebrates

The temperature will be slightly cooler than normal for this time of year, but otherwise perfect weather is expected when Houghton High School graduates Friday night. The ceremony runs from 7:00-8:00 and will be livestreamed on Facebook for those unable to attend.

Afterwards, the Houghton Fire Department has organized a parade. The route heads north to Sharon Avenue, turning right and following the road as it becomes MacInnes Drive near the Student Development Complex. The parade goes west at US-41 onto College Avenue and then hopes to be downtown at around 8:30. The department is encouraging those enjoying a Friday night at the stores, bars, and restaurants on Sheldon to step outside as the parade passes to show your support.

Hancock Central High School has its ceremony tomorrow, but lots of fun is set for Friday afternoon. From 3:30 to 5:30, bounce houses and other activities will be happening at the football field for students from kindergarten to 12th grade. The event is free and everyone is welcome, including families who are in from out of town.
