High School
In girls high school basketball last night…
– The Houghton girls basketball team came from behind in the fourth quarter, and defeated Marquette 46-40 in double overtime. The Gremlins were down 24-17 at halftime, but climbed back into the game with a strong defense, and a sterling performance by Kara Pietila, who scored all 22 of her points in the second half. Houghton remains unbeaten. Marquette suffers just its second loss of the season.
– Calumet defeated Lake Linden-Hubbell 47-34. Hailey Wickstrom had 19 points for the Copper Kings.
– Hancock got past Dollar Bay-Tamarack City 46-33. Maija Sebbas led the Bulldogs with 14 points.
– Chassell smothered Republic-Michigamme 61-17.
– Ewen-Trout Creek downed Ontonagon 49-28.
– Baraga stopped Wakefield-Marenisco 46-31. The Viking improve to 13-2 this season.
– L’Anse outscored West Iron County 72-61. Bailey Froberg led the Purple Hornet with 17 points. Link to video highlights from the L’Anse and Baraga games here.

The Detroit Pistons defeated the Philadelphia 76ers 113-96 last night. Marcus Morris led Detroit with 19 points. Andre Drummond grabbed 17 rebounds. The Pistons host the Los Angeles Lakers tomorrow night. Tipoff is at 7:30 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3, WCCY.

The Detroit Red Wings welcome the Columbus Blue Jackets tonight. Faceoff is at 7:30 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3, WCCY.
MLB
The Detroit Tigers have added another veteran bullpen candidate. They signed Mike Zagurski to a minor league contract. Zagurski played for seven different major league organizations before spending the last two seasons in Japan.
