Houghton County using Emergency Notification SYstem

Houghton County has begun the use of an emergency mass notification system.

County residents who want to receive the electronic alerts can sing up by logging into the county’s website.

In the event of an emergency, participants would receive notifications by a telephone call, text or email.

The system is still relatively new and has about 100 people signed up.  It was first used in early February after the fatal four car accident in Chassell where a section of US 41 remained closed during a clean up of fuel that spilled during the accident.

Those wishing to sign up for the alerts can visit http://www.houghtoncounty.net/
