Houghton County Sheriff Searching for a Man Wanted for Aggravated Assault and Bond Violations

UPDATE 7:15 PM SATURDAY – Per the Houghton County Sheriff’s Department, Jason Kramer has been located, and is in custody.


The Houghton County Sheriff is requesting the public’s assistance in locating a man wanted for aggravated assault, fleeing and eluding, bond violations and removing an electronic monitoring device.

Yesterday, at 7 pm the Houghton County Sheriff responded to a report of an aggravated assault in the Village of Calumet. Deputies identified the suspect as Jason Richard Kramer.

Kramer is out on bond, and removed his GPS tether.

Deputies located Kramer, driving southbound on US-41 in Franklin Township. Deputies then initiated a pursuit of Kramer’s vehicle. During the pursuit, Kramer crashed his vehicle on Airport Park Road, at the intersection of Hill Top Road. He was able to exit his vehicle, and fled the scene. An extensive search of the Dollar Bay area was conducted by the Houghton County Sheriff, Michigan State Police, Superior Search and Rescue and MTU Public Safety.

Kramer is described as 5 foot, 8 inches tall, weighing approximately 185 pounds. He has short black and gray hair that is balding.

Anyone with information on Jason Richard Kramer’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Houghton County Sheriff 906 482 0055. Do not attempt to approach Kramer, and call 911 immediately.
