One person died on Saturday near Duncan Township in a snowmobile accident.
On Saturday, just before 5 pm, the Houghton County sheriff responded to Trail 8 near Duncan Township for a report of a snowmobile crash. Upon arriving at the scene, on Trail 8 between M-38 and Kitchie Point Road, deputies discovered a 63-year-old man. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Law enforcement officials believe speed and alcohol were factors in the crash.
The Houghton County sheriff was assisted by Michigan state police, Michigan DNR officers, Duncan Township Fire Department, and Bay Ambulance.
