When Ben Larson leaves his post at the end of the month, the current controller will be the one filling the coveted administrator spot. At a meeting Tuesday afternoon, the Houghton County Board of Commissioners unanimously selected Elizabeth Bjorn for the job.
Bjorn has risen through the ranks, starting as an accountant. She said Tuesday afternoon that she was still trying to process the news. Bjorn believes she will be a stabilizing force following unexpected turnover at key county posts recently.
Departing administrator Ben Larson promises to help with the change in personnel. He writes, “My last day here is October 29, 2021 so I will do all that I can for the Board of Commission and the County, as Elizabeth transitions into my role.”
Bjorn says she doesn’t believe the county will rush to fill the controller position. With a new administrator and sheriff, she thinks it is best to let the reset breathe before any big decisions are made that could shape the county’s future.
