Houghton Community Broadcasting nabs four awards for news coverage

The Michigan Association of Broadcasters kicked off its Broadcast Excellence Awards with news categories and your favorite radio stations were well represented. 97.7 The Wolf came in first place for Commercial Radio – Market Four in the Breaking News Story and Continuing Coverage categories. It received a merit award for Best Investigative Story. KBear 102.3 got a merit award nod in sports.

More results will be released throughout the week, culminating on Friday with the coveted Station of the Year Award. 97.7 The Wolf won breaking news based on our election night coverage. Commercial Radio – Market Four covers the smaller listening areas in the state. That includes many Upper Peninsula and Northern Michigan markets.
