Houghton City Council 9.8.21

Houghton city council got trashy last night. The city will renew their contract with Waste Management for garbage duty around town for the next year. The city will reevaluate the contract come spring, after a number of projects have finished around the city. The first of two important dates will be September 22nd. On that day the public can attend a special meeting to talk about the rural development grant. This grant would add a new police cruiser to the city’s fleet. The cruiser will cost $46,870.

The other important date is September 29th. Details for that meeting are still in the planning stage. The city will hold an open house to discuss the parking deck located downtown. Work on the bridge will move in a couple of weeks. Work will continue on the south bound outside lane, before flipping to the north bound side to finish work on that outside lane. While work happens on one outside lane, traffic will be open to both lanes on the opposing side of the bridge.
