Shopko has announced several additional store closings, including many in the Upper Peninsula, as part of its restructuring effort through Chapter 11 Bankruptcy.
The stores in Houghton, Calumet, L’Anse, Escanaba and Marquette are all among the scores of locations to be closed down in the coming months.
The stores in Houghton and L’Anse are slated to close on May 5th. The Calumet, Escanaba, and Marquette locations will close on May 12th.
Shopko recently auctioned off its pharmacy business with the local files being moved to the highest bidder, Walgreens. The process of transferring those files to the Houghton location is currently underway.
Shopko filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in January and initially announced that there would be 38 additional store closings but none of the Copper Country stores were included in that original list.
