Houghton’s Downtown Development authority has announced the recipients of their façade mini grants. The DDA annually sets aside around 20,000 dollars for helping downtown businesses upgrade their store fronts. Four of the five businesses will get just over 4,000 dollars and one will get 1000 dollars for a smaller project. Congratulations to and Keweenaw Coffee Works, Joey’s Seafood, The Barber Shop, Michigan Made, and The Print Shop. Keweenaw coffee works plans to open a new location in downtown. Each of the businesses will use the funds for things like improving signage, replacing old windows, and doors, or visibility from the street.
