Holiday travelers will rejoice as they hit the road during the holidays.
AAA of Michigan reports gas prices have fallen by an average of 7 cents per gallon at the pump in the past week. Bringing the statewide average for a gallon of gas down to 3.03.
The drop at the pump is a few cents less than it was around Thanksgiving a month ago. Around Thanksgiving local prices at the pump charged drivers 2.99 for one gallon of unleaded gasoline. However, prices are about 11 cents higher for a gallon of gas than it was one year ago.
Copper Country residents continue to pay less at the gas station than in other areas of the state, with most locations around Houghton and Hancock charging around 2.78 per gallon.
