Holiday Hoopla charity dinner moved online

The Holiday Hoopla charity event put on by the Keweenaw Young Professionals, the Keweenaw Chamber of Commerce, and the Keweenaw Economic Development Alliance has been canceled this year. It was scheduled for Thursday at the Bonfire Restaurant at the Continental Fire Company.

In its place will be an online event similar in format to last year. KEDA Executive Director Jeff Ratcliffe says that virtual only still can be a powerful format for the silent auction, which benefits career and technical education students at the Copper Country Intermediate School District. He says that every high school that is a part of the CCISD is helped.

No matter what, no matter how much money KEDA raises every year, there is a guarantee of a $1,000 scholarship per high school in the region, and that region has now expanded to four counties and 11 high schools.

All three organizers posted to Facebook Monday afternoon citing uncertain circumstances as the reason for the change.
