The parade, wife-carrying races, and circle dances will gather the community on Hancock’s Quincy Green next month. But until Heikipaiva returns the Copper Country will enjoy cultural enrichment activities and events before the bear rolls over.
Recently Sew Cranky started the annual snowflake challenge. While using an antique hand crank sewing machine individuals can create unique snowflakes on black felt and become enter for a prize drawing.
After the start of the new year the Nordic film Series will turn on the popcorn machine and settle into a seat to watch the Happiest Country in the World; Finland on January 8th. Throughout the month the Finnish American Folk School will host cultural classes for people to learn about various crafting and creative skills.
Leading up to Heikinpaiva on the Quincy Green the city will host Sauna Week2025 in the Copper Country. And on Friday the 24th Club Finndingo will host a dinner and movie at the Calumet Theater. Then the big day comes on January 25th.
