Hancock summer events series kicks off in full this week

Downtown Hancock will be bustling Thursday and Friday as the summer calendar hits full stride. The Farmers Market and Hancock Tori fill up Quincy Green weekly from June 17th until September 30th. Vendors will be selling their wares and fresh produce from 3:00 to 6:00 PM.

Friday marks the return of Canal Rock at Porvoo Park with Under the Radar. The blues group takes the stage at 6:00 PM. City Manager Mary Babcock says it is meant to be a free and easy affair.

It’s just open to the public, very casual. It’s a pretty nice event for the City of Hancock.

Concerts run each week through the end of July. Shows are coordinated with the City of Houghton, which has its own set of waterfront concerts at Kestner Park in August on Thursdays. Houghton will also be doing a series of smaller shows in July downtown.

Babcock says that there will still be plenty of fun on Hancock’s side of the canal to be had once the concert schedule winds down.

And then we start movies in the park later on in July, and that will be on Thursday nights on Quincy Green outside.

Expect a lot of family fun from July 29th through September 6th.
