Hancock’s Police department has received a grant from the Portage Health Auxiliary. The department is getting $6,552 to replace old AED’s and needed accessories. Police respond to many medical calls, and can often times be the first on scene. AED’s are used to quickly shock the heart, after someone suffers cardiac arrest. The life saving device can be used by bystanders to save a life. And work by monitoring the heart rhythm of the person, then sending an electric shock to restore the heart to a normal pace.
