Hancock encourages residents to make a difference in the community

The Copper Country cares for its neighbors. This weekend Hancock hosts the community’s annual Make A Difference Day. The city has organized several project sites around town and in city parks. The projects work to clean up any trash and leaves on the ground, and generally improve spaces. Downtown Development Coordinator Todd Gast says the event started many years ago thanks to the passion of a former city employee.

This started years ago with that Mann and they did different projects throughout the city. Right now we’re raking up of the leaves, you know, branches that have fallen off of trees, twigs. We’ve got the city of Hancock DPW bags. We’re going to fill those up. And if anything is broken or needs repairs. Such as benches, play structures, swing sets. And mark those down for maintenance orders with public works. – Todd Gast, DDA Coordinator, City of Hancock

Deb Mann passed in 2022. She worked for several years as the Hancock DDA Coordinator and was a major catalyst for city events and programs bringing the Copper Country together. Make a Difference Day celebrates Mann’s passion for her community and spreads good deeds throughout the city. Those interested in signing up for a Make a Difference site should contact Todd Gast with the city at 906 482 2720 for more information. Participants should wear clothes and shoes that can get dirty, and bring a pair of yard work gloves.
