Hancock Dog Park nearing clean sweep of its funding goals

The Hancock Recreation Committee is trying to secure tens of thousands of dollars for a new dog park near the trailhead for the Maasto Hiihto system by the Four Seasons Chalet. So far, tails should be wagging as two of the milestones of the three goals have been met.

The first involved the passage of the recreation millage renewal August 3rd, which voters approved overwhelmingly. The second source is a Patronicity crowdfunding campaign that would see a matching grant handed out by the MEDC if Hancock could attract $20,000 first, a mark the city set for itself. The number has been reached over two weeks early, and donations are still being accepted through September 17th.

Another $25,000 is on the line through the Petsafe Bark For Your Park contest. Voting wrapped up Tuesday, and the company says the ten winners will be announced Thursday.
