Hancock will consider allowing chickens within city limits. Hancock’s city council will hold a public hearing to introduce a new animal ordinance allowing residents up to four female chickens on their property. In recent years many communities have begun to allow small chicken and other small animal coups within municipal limits with more people taking an interest in agriculture. Hancock will hold the public hearing on the animal ordinance on October 16th. Additionally, the city council will meet twice next month. City manager Mary Babcock says that the city has several items to decide on before the end of the year, and will need to have the council meet for an extra meeting in October.
