Hancock City Council to Consider Exchanging Land for 5,000 Cubic Feet of Top Soil

The city of Hancock will hold three public hearings before the start of the city council meeting tonight. All three hearings are for utility easement, two are for development at the Hancock Business and Technology Park.

The city’s lengthy agenda includes consideration of a county resolution that will set up an early voter center in Hancock. The city will also consider equipment purchases for the police department and potential network upgrades and signage for the Houghton County Arena.

The final agenda item Hancock will consider is a purchase agreement with Thornton Construction that exchanges little less than 25 acres of land for the 5,000 cubic yards of topsoil at the business and technology park. Other action items deal with change orders on various projects.

The Hancock city council will meet at city hall in the council chambers at 6 pm this evening.
