New information about drinking water system improvements was presented to the Hancock city council last night. 4-inch water pipes for public access to water is no longer the norm, and are outdated.
The city approved an estimate submitted to the state that would give them an idea of how much grant money they would receive, with consideration of other alternatives. The total project price is estimated to be $6 million.
The police department received a $48,000 grant for new police recruits.
It was reported that this year’s spring cleanup had a huge turnout, which was estimated to be about 300 people. 15 more qualified and received spring cleanup pickup from the city.
There was a unanimous vote for Rick White to be appointed to the Board of Review, with a term ending in December of this year.
There were also purchases approved for a 2015 Chevy Silverado, a lawn mower for the city, and new cabinets and countertop for the fire department to replace the original ones that are falling apart.
The Hancock budget meeting was rescheduled for May 31, the same day as the public hearing for the solar and wind power ordinance.
