The Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team arrested two men, a 31-year-old from Rockland and a 29-year-old from White Pine, bringing illegal narcotics into the area from Ohio. Michigan State Police – Hometown Security Team conducted the traffic stop on US-45 in Bruce Crossing. Drug canines detected a half pound of methamphetamine in the engine compartment and two pounds of marijuana tucked into a storage space near the rear of the vehicle.
The arrests are the culmination of a three-month investigation that determined the two men were selling substantial amounts of narcotics throughout Ontonagon County. Their supplier is based in Dayton, Ohio. The men were returning to the state Wednesday when the traffic stop occurred.
UPSET also conducted a raid on a French Shanty Road home in Rockland, MI where they found additional drug paraphernalia and illegal firearms, including a pistol and three rifles.
UPSET was assisted by MSP–Hometown Security Team, MSP-Wakefield Post, Ontonagon County Sheriff’s Department and Dishaw Towing.
