Habitat build starts Friday

Copper Country Habitat for Humanity and Pettibone Corporation are teaming up to get started on a new build. The company specializes in heavy duty lift equipment that is particularly effective in the early stages of home construction. The inaugural raising of the rafters is set for Friday on Sixth Street in South Range.

Habitat for Humanity Publicity Coordinator Rene Johnson says the foundation slab has been available for two years now, and the organization is excited to finally begin a project at the site. Johnson expects that next year, hopefully after COVID restrictions are completely lifted, Habitat will be able to complete two builds. That requires more volunteers. Johnson says it can be a great learning opportunity before you embark on your own DIY project.

It is a great learning opportunity. You can volunteer on a day that’s just about putting in insulation, or putting on siding if that’s something you’re interested in. You can volunteer on those specific days for that kind of work.

If you’d like to volunteer for this summer’s build please contact the Copper Country Habitat for Humanity office at 906-482-5376.
