The Keweenaw Co-op has been offering fresh, organic produce and healthy foods to the community for almost 50 years. They are moving from their current place to a building in downtown Hancock.
“Well, I mean it is definitely our desire to expand access and knowledge about healthy food, and so I think number one, just being in a more visible location is going to go a long ways in helping us grow our reach to the community because right now you pretty much [have] to know we exist and where we are in order to find us. You know [it’ll be good] being in a place where, one, we’ll be there, we’ll be visible, we won’t be that hard to find. And then two, I think we’re going to be able to offer an experience that feels a little more regular, while a lot of our unique aspects will come along. But it’ll be a little more room, a little brighter so I think in that regard too I’m hoping we’re more welcoming to more of the community.” – Curt Webb, General Manager of Keweenaw Co-op.
The groundbreaking ceremony will take place tomorrow at noon, and Keweenaw Co-op invites the public to come.
