Walking around downtown Houghton it’s hard not to hear the wonderful sounds of local musicians picking a guitar or singing a tune.
Tonight Good Times Music, a downtown music and instruments specialty business, will begin its summer concert series featuring local musicians at the Houghton Waterfront Pier. The Good Times Music Summer Slams come to the area thanks to Good Times Music and its partners the City of Houghton, Black Ice Comics, Industrial Graphics, Vinyl Truth, and Swift Hardware. Good Times Music Owner Bruce Rundman says that he’s excited to share local music with the community over the Summer Slam’s ten-week series bringing people of all ages to downtown Houghton.
Tonight’s concert will open with Uncle Floyd. Then as the season progresses the concert series will bring acts like Uncle Pete BBQ Revue, Chad Borgen and the Collective, Millenial’s Falcon, Keweenaw Brewgrass, The Jana NybergGroup, Vibecheck, Mr. Caeser and the Lucha Tones, Lupine, and Bling Crosby to the Portage Canal. Local food trucks will also serve food during concerts each week. The concert will begin at 7 pm on Wednesday evenings.
