Gogebic Community College Considered a Veteran Friendly School by the Michigan Veteran’s Affair Agency

Gogebic Community College earns high marks as a veteran friendly school by the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency.

The community college, with two campuses (Ironwood and Houghton), was awarded a silver level by MVAA for recognition of its commitment to supporting the needs of student veterans and dependents. GCC joins a group of sixty two total schools in the state of Michigan to earn a bronze, silver or gold level with the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency.

Director for the MVAA, Adam Hollier, says that the transition from boots and a helmet to a cap and gown can be a daunting undertaking by veterans, but knowing that there are institutions within Michigan willing to put forth resources and support student veterans.

Gogebic Community College Interim President, Dr. Jennifer Sabourin, says the college’s staff take pride in supporting veterans coming to their ironwood or Houghton campuses.
