Not long ago the Keweenaw Peninsula set out to support itself and groups that make a difference in the region’s communities. Yesterday the Copper Shores Community Health Foundation announced the total amount donated to support 26 Copper Country non-profits during Giving Tuesday. The annual fundraising event has become a day to look forward to for many thanks in large part to the incredibly generous friends of the Keweenaw Peninsula. This year’s day of giving brought in over 857,200 dollars that will be shared between many non-profits impacting several demographics in the community. Over the past several years giving Tuesday has raised more than 3.6 million dollars. These funds are often used by partnering nonprofit groups to support their operational costs, construct various projects, work with children in the region, and serve meals to seniors. Impacting communities in Baraga, Houghton, Keweenaw, and Ontonagon counties. Copper Shores says the foundation will begin dropping by non-profit offices to deliver Giving Tuesday donations starting this week. Find more information here.
