Fun and Learning with Family in Baraga Event Tomorrow

The first few weeks of the school year can be stressful, especially for students uncomfortable with their skills in stem-focused classes. Tomorrow evening the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community Promise Neighborhood Program and Western Upper Peninsula MiSTEM invite students and families to meet Baraga County STEM teachers, check out a robotics demo, and participate in STEM-themed activities.

Organizers of the STEM and Family event hope to see students of all ages and their parents have some fun while learning. During the robotics demonstrations students will get to control the robot and move through an obstacle course. While students are checking the demonstrations and participating in educational activities, parents can meet with their child’s teachers to talk about the school year.

The event will take place at the Keweenaw Bay Ojibwa Community College gymnasium. The Niiwin Akeaa Center is located at 111 Beartown Road in Baraga. STEM and Family with KBIC Promise Neighborhood Program and WUP MiSTEM will begin at 4 pm, and run until 7 pm tomorrow. The STEM and Family event is supported in part through a grant from the Michigan Department of Education.
