From the Ground Farmers Market Collective Receives Incredible Gift

Farmers market season just opened up in Calumet, Hancock and Houghton last week, and From the Ground Farmers Market Collective received a gift just in time. Incredible Bank donated 10,000 dollars to the farmers market collective, for them to work on expanding food access in the region. Because of the donation from Incredible Bank, From the Ground will expand their access to accept Bridge Card, Double Up Food Bucks, WIC Project Fresh, Senior Project Fresh, Aspirus Fruit and Vegetable Prescriptions, UP CAP, and HuskyFAN.

From the Ground was established this past winter with the help of several local partners. And the group has recently hired their Regional Market Manager, Jessica McQuinn, who will oversee the organization and management of farmers markets in all three towns. The generous gift will help From the Ground reach more food insecure people in the region. Houghton’s farmers market takes place each Tuesday from 4 to 7pm on the upper level of the parking deck. The Hancock Tori and Farmers Market starts this tomorrow at 3pm on the Quincy Green downtown. And Calumet’s farmers market takes place every Saturday from 10am to 2 pm in the 300 block of Calumet.
