Little Brothers – Friends of the Elderly are having their annual food drive this Saturday between 9:00 and 4:00. Executive Director Cathy Kass-Aten lists some of the items needed.
The drive is held in early November annually and provides most of the items the pantry needs for the entire year.
Lambda Chi Fraternity will once again be doing the pick up. They have several different routes through Houghton County, including Atlantic Mine through Hurontown, Chassell to Houghton, Ripley through Lake Linden, or Hancock to Calumet. You can leave items outside on your front step, or by the mailbox. Kass-Aten says donations can be dropped off at the organization’s Hancock location at 527 Hancock Street anytime, during staffed hours or through the night.
Additionally, Little Brothers – Friends of the Elderly is looking for volunteers to deliver holiday meals for Thanksgiving and Christmas this year. They also have a program that provides wood for heating, which faces higher demand starting in the fall and through winter, but can be utilized year-round.
