Folk School at Midsummer Exhibit Reception Tomorrow Evening

Continuing the Finlandia Art Gallery’s promotion of local art and artists, the gallery will host the Finnish American Folk School’s instructors’ exhibit. Tomorrow evening the Finlandia University Art Gallery will welcome the public to a special reception for the Folk School at Midsummer exhibit. The gallery shows works by Finnish American Folk School instructors featuring visual and textile artwork. Other works included in the Folk School at Midsummer Exhibit are made using the bark of trees such as birch cedar and willow.

The Finnish American Folk School was founded in 2017 with the goal of promoting knowledge of Finnish Folk arts, and traditional skills that are often passed from one generation to the next. Throughout the year, the folk school’s instructors host different courses for the public that show how to create various cultural items and objects.

Tomorrow’s artists reception for the Finnish American Folk School’s Folk School at Midsummer Exhibit will begin at 7 pm, at the Finnish American Heritage Center, located on Quincy Street in Hancock. The exhibit is open to the public until September 13th.
