Farmers market season is right around the corner, and to celebrate, Houghton is hosting the first ever From the Ground Festival this Saturday.
The festival showcases and celebrates the talents of local artisans, restaurants, farmers, musicians, artists, and more as a way to kick off the warm season in conjunction with Ride the Keweenaw.
“It’s going to be a variety of vendors. Many of them are going to be the vendors that you would see at our farmers market in Houghton throughout the year, but we do have some additional artisans that will be there as well. I think we got about 40 different vendors that will be there this Saturday. There will also be a few other education organizations that focus on recycling, some tutorials on that. There are going to be bike tune-up stations available. A bunch of different things are happening.” – Brad Barnett, Executive Director of Visit Keweenaw
Besides the vendors, there will also be food trucks, a petting zoo, live music and more. The festival begins at noon and ends at six on Houghton’s waterfront.
