Fire Danger Levels Expected To Raise Even Further

The Michigan DNR has commented that it has been unusually dry lately, and has restricted open burning as much as possible.

There have been fires downstate, and there was even a small fire in Ontonagon county, which the Crystal Falls unit reported was due to lightning.

There is a forecast of high to extreme fire danger, and no burning permits are distributed throughout the entire Upper Peninsula.

They ask individuals to avoid fires unless absolutely necessary, at least until measurable rain has fallen.

According to the DNR, 9 out of 10 wildfires are caused by humans. They ask that if you see a wildfire, to call 911 so firefighters can respond quickly and efficiently to the area.
