The Finlandia women’s hockey team will have more than one goal on their minds this Saturday at the Houghton County Arena.
During FinnU’s game against Concordia, there will be a Senior Day Fundraiser to help pay for medical expenses for the father of forward Natasha Kern.
Dean Kern was recently diagnosed with tonsil cancer so the team will be holding a silent auction to raise money.
“He’s been missing work and all that so the proceeds tomorrow are going for medical expenses and there will be SISU jerseys and special prizes including paintings, hockey memorabilia, sticks, and a fan prize package there,” Natasha Kern said.
These are also the final home games of the season for the women’s team so defensewoman Caitlin Siegal invites everyone out to cheer on the team today and tomorrow. “These are big games because they are our two last home games and they should be pretty good. We had really close games with Concordia last year so we’re hoping for some good games,” said Siegal.
The puck drops at 3:00 Friday afternoon and 2:15 Saturday.
