There is an opening reception at the Finlandia University Gallery tonight at 7 PM for a new exhibit featuring the works of Gerald Immonen. According to the university, “Immonen also has paintings in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York City, New York; the Museum of Art, Rhode Island School of Design, Providence, Rhode Island; the Memphis Brooks Museums of Art, Memphis, Tennessee; and the Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art, Cornell University, Ithaca, New York.”
Finlandia recently received several of the artist’s paintings, drawings, and sketches thanks to a donation from his wife, Delight. The Heritage Center is home to the largest collection of Finnish-American art in the country. Immonen’s pieces are sure to become some of the crown jewels of the center.
The gallery is scheduled to run through the end of November. It is free and open to the public.
