Finlandia participates in Michigan Transfer Agreement

Thew following press release was issued by Finlandia University:

Finlandia University’s effort to become a transfer-friendly leader continued in 2018 with formal participation in the Michigan Transfer Agreement (MTA).

“While FinnU has always honored many of the elements of the MTA, this allows us to take an official position and showcase our transfer friendliness across the great state of Michigan,” Assistant Director of Admissions and Transfer Coordinator Craig Kangas said.

Participating in the MTA helps make things clearer for students and other participating institutions. It was formed in 2014 by the Michigan Association of Collegiate Registrars & Admissions Officers, who continues to maintain it.

“The MTA gives an outline for a student at a community college on how easy it is to transfer to Finlandia after getting your 30 credits of MTA designation,” Kangas said. “This is just another way we make it easy to bring your credits in and have them apply to your academic program so you can get your degree as quickly as possible.”

Becoming a transfer-friendly leader has been a key strategic focus for Finlandia since the fall of 2017. That includes the introduction of the $10,000 Finnish Strong Transfer Scholarship for students bringing in six or more credits, reorganization of staff to better focus on serving these students and revamping internal processes to help students quickly move through the admissions process.
