The Finlandia Foundation National, Inc. intends to preserve much of the University’s heritage center and archives. The non profit, Finlandia Foundation, was founded in 1953 with the intent to connect the United States’ Finnish Americans. The foundation plans to establish a task force who will identify significant objects and materials from the Finnish American Heritage Center, Folk School, art gallery, North Winds Books and the Finnish American Reporter. While the foundation is saddened by the circumstances in which they are taking over preservation efforts, they are happy to do so, and feels it is important to protect as much of the irreplaceable heritage artifacts within the Finnish American Heritage Center. You can find a full copy of the Finlandia Foundation press release here.
