Fatal accident near Otter Lake

At 3:24 PM Thursday afternoon the Houghton County Sheriff’s Office was called out to a single-vehicle accident on Tapiola Road near Donken Road. Two men were in the car, a 67-year-old from Pelkie and a 35-year-old from Nisula. The older man was taken to Baraga County Memorial Hospital by Bay Ambulance. He has died from injuries sustained during the crash.

An investigation is ongoing, and alcohol is believed to have contributed to the accident. Assisting were Otter Lake First Responders, Otter Lake Fire and Rescue, and Superior Service.
