Fatal accident closes 41 Sunday night

Update: The identity of the woman killed in Sunday’s crash has been provided by Memorial Chapel Funeral Home. Her name is Marlene Beaudoin. Keweenaw Report reached out to the Houghton County Sheriff’s Department Tuesday for an update on the condition of the others that were hospitalized. No further information was given.

One is dead after an accident Sunday evening.

Just before seven, two vehicles collided on US-41 in Calumet Township. The accident shut down the highway in both directions near Church Street. In one car were two people from Dollar Bay, both 25 years old. The man was taken to Aspirus Keweenaw, but released. The woman is still admitted, and is in stable condition.

In the other vehicle was a 40-year-old Calumet woman who has since been pronounced dead. She first went to Aspirus Keweenaw before being airlifted by Valley Med Flight to UP Health Systems – Marquette. Two children were also in the woman’s car. They were also taken into to Aspirus Keweenaw.
