A local family is suing an airbag manufacturer for negligence relating to a fatal accident in Calumet last year. On Friday the Associated Press reported that the Beaudoin family filed for suit in Houghton County’s 12th Circuit Court against Arc Automotive Incorporated. On August 15th 2021, Marlene Beaudoin was killed in two car accident, as a result from a piece of metal from the air bag inflator punctured her chest. She later died at the hospital from her injuries. The lawsuit calls for a jury trial and seeks 25,000 dollars in damages. Arc Automotive produces air bag inflators that are then sold to air bag manufacturers, before they are placed in vehicles. Arc automotive is named alongside party’s General Motors and Toyoda Gosei North American Corporation in the lawsuit in Houghton County. The company was also named in a federal class action lawsuit filed in San Francisco back in May.
