Every Snowflakes is a Little Different than the Last

Just like real snowflakes that form individual crystals making unique shapes and patterns. Sew Cranky has begun to fill a wall full of unique snowflakes designed by locals. Starting back in December Sew Cranky opened Hiekinpaiva’s Snowflake Challenge. Encouraging people to create their snowflakes using antique hand crank sewing machines. The easy-to-use hand crank allows people to easily move the felt and stitch thread into several shapes and patterns.

“There are innumerable patterns for snowflakes. No two snowflakes are alike. And no two snowflakes that have been made are alike here. Children love the control of the sewing machine. As do adults. But the children, even the small children, want to take off and do it on their own. And not have exact guidance for their snowflakes. So some of the snowflakes are pretty wild.” Ginger Alberti, Owner, of Sew Cranky

Individuals interested to make their snowflake designs and join the challenge can stop by Sew Cranky on Quincy Street during hours. Participating in the snowflake challenge costs 3 dollars, and participants are eligible for the challenge’s contest prizes. The snowflake challenge will run past Heikinpaiva’s festivities and ends February 16th. Contact Sew Cranky to set up a time or stop by their store to join the snowflake challenge. Contact information can be found here, along with more information about Sew Cranky. Sew Cranky is located at 322 Quincy Street in Hancock.
