Evangel Community Church screening Christmas film

Evangel Community Church has seen a lot of change in the past couple years, and it is gearing up for another first next weekend. Pastor Travis Williams says that the modification of the old Shopko site on Memorial Drive is taking shape nicely. For a while, it felt like something closer to camping, but the sprawling big box store now has a defined worship area, and a growing community center feel.

Coming in January here, we’ve got an indoor playground on one side of the building that we’re going to be opening up. Kids can come with their parents after school three days out of the week, and come and play on the playground. There’s a really cool gaga ball pit, which is a game kids love.

On December 10th and 11th, a movie screen will be set up to show Christmas with The Chosen: The Messengers. Williams says the group is liked by several of his parishioners.

We’ve got a lot of members here at the church who are pretty big fans of The Chosen show. We just reached out to the company that was working with them to stream this special Christmas program. One thing led to another and we were able to connect with them and get a license to be able to show it for two shows.

The film tells the story of Christmas from the perspective of Joseph and Mary. The Friday evening show begins at 6:30 and childcare is available. There is also a Saturday matinee at 1:30. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the church’s website.
