EV Charging Stations coming to the Copper Country

Soon enough all vehicles made by the big three in Detroit will be electric. And with increased numbers of EV’s on the road, towns will need to start preparing for an electric future. The Copper Country already has one electric vehicle charging station. And soon the area will have a total of three level 3 chargers between the cities of Houghton and Hancock. Houghton is set to get two stations, which will be located downtown. The Hancock charger will be at 399 Quincy Street. All three chargers will be installed via EGLE grants. Houghton has already ordered their two and hope to have them ready to install sometime during the next year. Level three chargers can full charge an EV in about a half hour using 800 volts.
