Ed Jenich reappointed to Houghton County HHS board

Ed Jenich, a Copper Country fixture for decades, has been reappointed to the Houghton County Department of Health and Human Services Board. Each term is three years. Jenich is a gubernatorial appointment, the only one on Houghton’s respective panel. He says he is deeply honored by that, and has served in the capacity for several administrations, but he will step away soon.

This will be my last term. I had thought that this would’ve been my last term, but I was asked to stay on. I will stay to this appointment for the next three years.

The COVID-19 pandemic has been the main thrust of the board’s work since March of 2020 and Jenich doesn’t see that changing.

Well that’s the big one and I think it will be for a number of years to come forth. Every meeting it seems like we take a couple steps ahead and we take two steps behind.

Jenich has served on several boards for nonprofit organizations in the Keweenaw. He was also the Mayor of Laurium at one time. His reappointment was announced on Wednesday.
