Drug raid in Calumet

Houghton County Sheriff’s personnel raided a home on Park Avenue in Calumet Saturday, finding drug paraphernalia. Two people were arrested, a 28-year-old woman and a 39-year-old man, who have not yet been identified. They are expected to be arraigned in 97th District Court this week.

Deputies were originally sent to the residence on a search warrant for the individuals arrested. They obtained a second warrant to look through the home where they found crystal methamphetamine, prescription pills, scales, drug packaging, and electronic devices. Additionally, they found a three-year-old girl. It is unclear if she was handed over to other family members or if she was placed into a foster home by child protective services. Both adults remain at the Houghton County Jail.

Laurium Village Police, the Houghton County Magistrates Office, and MSP-Calumet assisted.
